Summary The story of the poet and soldier Bálint Balassi. Hungary, at the end of the 16th century. The brave men of Végvár spend their days with anti-Turkish raids, hunting, and combing women's hair. Balassi falls in love with Anna Losonczy, the wife of the Croatian Ban. The man is also attracted to Anna, but she rejects him. Balassi secretly marries his relative, Krisztina Dobó, for which his brother-in-law files a lawsuit against him. Even though Balassi converted to Catholicism, his marriage was annulled (and in the meantime, he also had a child). His love turns to Anna again, unsuccessfully. Count Wesselényi offers him shelter in Poland. In his absence, his love-hungry wife becomes Balassi's, but he wants to return to his country. View more details
