Summer Children

The loyalty between two brothers is put to the test when financial problems and a secret kept threatens to destroy their lives and the lives of those closest to them.

Steve Downing, aka The Durango Kid, comes to Nugget City to investigate the murder of his brother-in-law, owner of the Carr Mine. Molly Tavish warns him to leave town or get killed because her brothers are the leaders of a ranching clan in a conflict against the miners. Sam Ashton, the miner's leaders, starts the rumor that Tommy Tavish killed Steve's relative' then Tommy is killed and Steve's hat is left at the scene of the crime. Steve, with the aid of Smiley BUrnette, breaks jail and, as the Durango Kid, goes after the people who are behind the lawlessness.

With misfortune and disgrace in their separate pasts, Abel and Mary meet and start a new life together, proving that life really is what we make of it.

The action begins with an absurd meeting of venerable congressmen in a decadent hotel. Immediately afterwards, a couple leaves the meeting and goes to a room, where she expresses to her partner the desire to have a child. The film, mixed in part with the evangelical story of the Virgin Mary, aims to analyze the responsibility of putting a child into the world. On the other hand there is the background of the old aristocratic structure, represented by the deadly sins, which does not want to accept young people and their new ideas.

When the snow melts and the hills of Appenzell are dotted with green and white, buckets of water slowly make their way up and down the slope. After a time, the gentle movement turns into violent swaying. Shots ring through the air, the buckets are punctured. Slowly the water begins to flow. This is the high point of a ritual that begins deep within the bowels of the mountain. Then trails of water spurt through the air to the thawing slopes and the water begins to gush, nearly causing the well in the valley to overflow.
