Summary A college professor, Tim Donnelly, is caught in an affair with his daughter's roommate. He loses his job, his wife kicks him out, and he hits the road in despair. He finds himself in St. Jones' Ditch, a ghost town in deep East Texas that hasn't quite died, though the folks who end up there have a habit of doing just that.
