Spring is Rebellious

Surrounded by violence, Ryoudo Numata becomes the epitome of toughness to live in peace. When a yakuza clan burns his house, he kills them and is jailed. 15 years later, he must reconnect with his family and earn the trust of his kids.

A retired professor has returned to his estate to live with his beautiful young wife, Yelena. The estate originally belonged to his first wife, now deceased; her mother and brother still live there and manage the farm. For many years the brother (Uncle Vanya) has sent the farm's proceeds to the professor, while receiving only a small salary himself. Sonya, the professor's daughter, who is about the same age as his new wife, also lives on the estate. The professor is pompous, vain, and irritable. He calls the doctor (Astrov) to treat his gout, only to send him away without seeing him. Astrov is an experienced physician who performs his job conscientiously, but has lost all idealism and spends much of his time drinking. The presence of Yelena introduces a bit of sexual tension into the household. Astrov and Uncle Vanya both fall in love with Yelena; she spurns them both. Meanwhile, Sonya is in love with Astrov, who fails even to notice her. Finally, when the professor announces he wants to sell the estate, Vanya, whose admiration for the man died with his sister, tries to kill him.

A police informant is found dead in a boarding-school situated near the border between Ulster and Eire. There are three suspects: the protestant school headmistress; Marley, an unfrocked missionary priest; and Benny, a seventeen-year-old criminal who has taken sanctuary in the school...

On the eve of his wedding, a young doctor, Sergei, is going to visit his mother in the provinces and dissuades the bride from going with him. His mother works in the reserve, Varya lives here, Sergei's ex-girlfriend, who is expecting a child from him. But he has no remorse. Contrary to the ban, Sergei hunts in the reserve and kills roe deer. Viewing photos of his father, whom he did not find alive, Sergey prefers cooking barbecue from roe deer. He is not going to tell the truth about his engagement to Varya.

Poitier, a single father who works as an Assistant Manager at a small town pet shop, enters a "quarter-life crisis" impelled by a recent tragedy. Loneliness and disconnection fatefully lead him toward an unexpected and sublime awakening.

Protassov is a scientist, who believes that the key to a better world lies in chemistry. As a member of the privileged, intellectual Russian elite he is so preoccupied with his own experiments and detached from the world around him, that he is indifferent to the loss of his wife's love, is oblivious to the persistent advances from an obsessed widow, scarcely notices that his sister is edging towards madness and is unaware of a personal danger that awaits him.
