Sirens

The life of Eva Senn, professor, science journalist and successful non-fiction author, gets out of joint. First she loses her driver's license, then she only wants to reverse her friend Marie's car a few meters and hits the student Lea.

Known as "Wildflower," Letty Roberts meets Arnold Boyd, a wealthy man who is weary of life in the city. Arnold thinks that Letty is merely a charming child, however, his playboy brother Gerald is attracted to her and charms her into eloping with him. Arnold catches up with the couple just after their wedding, and after a fight with Gerald, takes Letty away to the Boyd family home in New York. He introduces her as his own wife because, he says, he wants to save her reputation. Even Letty's parents do not know to which brother she is married. Letty's stay in the mansion opens her eyes to the world outside of her rural environment and eventually she realizes that while Arnold appears to be hard and uncaring, it is really he, not Gerald, whose feelings for her are the deepest. When she realizes Gerald's true character, Letty decides that she will be happier with Arnold.

Two boys are on an unplanned vacation by foot. They meet a girl who has nothing but a bikini under her coat. She says her cloths were stolen while she was bathing. She joins their company. They steel cloths for her. There is a little kissing with both but nothing that could make the other jealous. During most of the movie they enjoy minor pleasures. But occasionally when the girl is alone she has attacks of very painful emotions. In the end it turns out that she is a former child-prisoner of a German KZ-lager, who had run away from a mental hospital in bikini and coat. Some of the staff were searching for her. But when she sees them she commits suicide.

Ex-GDR citizen Dr. Otto Skrodt is about to become an important politician in Bonn when his old friend Karl shows up to ask him for some financial help. Karl had been imprisoned in the GDR because of a denunciation of Otto who was an IM for the Staatssicherheit. Otto believes that Karl found out that he was the IM and that he will blackmail him for that...

In the cellar Tuppen in Stockholms Old Town the troubadour Bellman sits with his drinking buddies Fredman, Mollberg, Mowitz and Father Berg.
