Shinderera monogatari

Summary The Story of Cinderella opens as Cinderella's life changes for the worse when her father leaves on a business trip. No sooner is he out of sight than Cinderella's stepmother has unceremoniously moved her two own daughters into Cinderella's room, thrown out her things, handed her a servant's dress, and put her to brutal harsh menial labor. The series covers Cinderella's trials and tribulations as she tries to adapt to her new life while suffering the abuse of her stepmother and her two stepsisters. All the while, her fairy godmother, Paulette, subtly watches her and tries to influence events to fix Cinderella's life without her noticing. One of her first acts in this is to grant several of the animals of the house the power of speech, thus giving Cinderella companions in her dog Patch, a pair of mice named Chuchu and Bingo, and a bird named Pappy. The animals provide her company as well as help with her chores. The biggest twist in the series is that Cinderella meets her Prince Charming early - except here he's the roguish Prince Charles, who has a habit of sneaking out of the castle and meets Cinderella by accident while disguised as a commoner. The two have a few misunderstandings before becoming friends and start having adventures together. Meanwhile, the villainous Duke Zaral plots against the royal family throughout the story, at times working Cinderella into his plots and machinations. The series eventually culminates in the ball in which the fairy tale ends, but with its own unique twist. View more details

Urusei Yatsura: Nagisa's Fiancé

Urusei Yatsura: Nagisa's Fiancé

Lum, Ataru, Shinobu and Mendo are invited to a small island where Mr Fujinami and Ryunnosuke have relocated and reopened their Hama Tea Shop. Once there, Fujinami explains that he purchased the shop from an old family friend, who disappeared along with his daughter, Nagisa. One evening, the group are scared by a pair of ghosts, who turn out to be the spirits of Fujinami's friend and his daughter. The two ghosts explain that they were trying to make a new dish using sea urchin, but due to poisoning, both died. It is also revealed that the friend's daughter Nagisa, was to become Ryunnosuke's wife. Ryunnosuke refuses, and confesses to her Father's friend that she cannot wed Nagisa, since she isn't a boy, but a girl. Strangely enough, this does not deter the friend or Fujinami from trying to get them together. Though the fact that she is a ghost is soon changed when a sea urchin comes ashore, and sheds a tear. Nagisa swallows the tear, and becomes human again. Meanwhile, the others have noted something strange: Ataru and Shutaro are generally attracted to girls, yet neither has attempted to make a pass at Nagisa. Finally unable to take it anymore, Ryunnosuke shows Nagisa her bandage-wrapped chest to show that she's a girl. This is compounded by an even bigger shock when Nagisa reveals that she is actually a he, but simply dresses as a girl with a girlish voice. As dawn comes, Nagisa's father's spirit disappears, but Nagisa remains, attempting to chase after Ryunnosuke.
