Seán Keane: Cloch le Carn

Adolf Schandl has 40 years incarceration and many failed breakout attempts behind him. Recently released, the 80 year old is now planning his final escape. He wants to return to Australia one more time. His dream country, where he lived a long time ago, and where life was good. On the way, the sweet Grandpa with the gentle gaze falls away layer by layer, to reveal personality traits that are shockingly of our time.

In 2003 Mark Henderson was one of eight backpackers taken hostage in Colombia. One year after his release one of his kidnappers contacted him by email. Now he's going back to meet him and finally close this chapter in his life.

Set in Brooklyn, the film is narrated by 18 year old David, a high school student and aspiring artist, who along with friends sets off on a Easter hang out in Coney Island. After a night of fun, the outing takes an unexpected and dramatic turn when the guys find themselves caught up in the midst of a subway shooting with tragic results. Based on a true life event, the film centers on the plague of guns and youth violence in the city's urban neighborhoods, where African American and Hispanic male lives take the greatest toll.
