The story revolves around the successful doctor (Majdi), and his beautiful fiancée Munira, (Majdi) is very concerned about his lineage towards his mother with whom he lives in the same house.

Two penniless friends--modest, simple guy Dilip and happy-go-lucky Raj--arrive in the city in search of jobs. They get good-paying job at a theater company--accidentally. Both fall in love with the theater company's heroine Chitra, but Chitra falls for Raj. Raj gets an exorbitant amount of wealth through a will, from a deceased distant relative. Raj goes to claim his wealth but falls into the trap of Rama and her father, who eye Raj's wealth. Dilip tries to warn Raj of this trap, but Raj won't listen. Devastated Chitra falls ill. Dilip, with a friend's help, plays a trick to make Raj understand Rama and her father's intentions. He succeeds and Raj marries Chitra.

The cabaret act of husband-and-wife dancing team Peggy and Joe Blondin is broken up when Joe becomes consumptive and is ordered West to recuperate. Peggy remains in New York to maintain the couple's income but gradually becomes desperate when letters sent her by her husband request more and more money. Joe's letters actually are being intercepted and rewritten by millionaire Harlan Quinn, who has designs on Peggy and wishes to portray Joe's situation as hopeless. After receiving a particularly alarming letter, Peggy consents to sell her honor to Harlan, but Joe arrives, fully recovered, just as the villain knocks on her door. The two men fight until Peggy's stepfather, a drug addict who has been acting as Harlan's dupe, shoots Quinn. The police arrive and shoot the old man, after which Peggy and Joe begin a new life together.

A young woman tries to find her own way in life despite strong experiences during the WW2, where the whole of Northern Norway is burnt to ruins and everyone is fleeing, seeking to find peace and freedom in a longing for a better present.

Timothy and Max are partners in the junk business. They take poor young Mary in as a boarder. Mary gets a job in Nathan's office and falls in love with him, but his mother feels she is beneath Nathan. Nathan faces disaster unless he can corner a particular stock, with which Timothy and Max's room happens to be entirely papered.
