Summary When a homeless, feisty, runaway girl encounters a stranded alien, she must help the little guy get home - and maybe find a home for herself in the process. The script opens with Cricket on a train, trying to stay out of sight. As she gets off, she scams some $ from an innocent bystander and heads to a local diner for some food. While eating there, she sees herself on a milk carton and leaves. At a pet store, Camille, a young detective - is investigating the latest of a string of pet store break-ins. In a lab across town, a crazy professor is tracking something in the night sky. As Cricket plans to fall asleep in the park, there are some creatures around her - but we never see them. It is as if they are guarding her. As a bright light comes across, Cricket follows and finds a glowing sphere that she picks up. She escapes as two men come looking for the same object. First scared by the alien, Cricket befriends it and becomes determined to help it find its way home. And doing so is taken on a quest to find missing battery cubes that the little alien needs to be able to charge his spaceship. A young local boy who has twice run into Cricket grabs the attention of the two men looking for the object when they are at the diner, asking for information about the girl/Cricket. Sensing he can make a quick buck; the boy informs the men he can help. At a local museum, Cricket and the little alien find one of the energy cubes they need but need to come back at night to steal it. When they return, they are ambushed by the two men - who have been informed by the boy where Cricket will be. While Cricket manages to escape with the sphere, they escape only to run into a man they earlier conned of cash. As they befriend him, they go to his house where they find another one of the energy cubes. Again the men follow them and ambush them at the house - knocking out Cricket and stealing the little alien are captured by the men and taken to the crazy professor. In a cage, time is running out for the alien. The boy, seeing the little alien and what happened to Cricket regrets helping the men, and now decides to help Cricket retrieve the alien. As they get to the crazy professor's house, they manage to get the little alien and escape. Back in the park, they now have all the energy cubes they need. As the little alien is able to get the sphere ready, the animals from the pet stores appear - and are zapped onboard the sphere. Just as the little alien is about to leave, Cricket asks to come along - but the little alien tells her it is too dangerous for her. Just as he is about to leave, the two men charge at them - with Camille at their heels A struggle happens, but the little alien is able to leave, and Cricket runs away. Back at the house, the man hopes Cricket returns. Back in the park as Cricket is about to fall asleep - the little alien reappears, not wanting to leave Cricket alone. Still followed by the two men, Cricket and the alien jump on a train - and in the end, reunited with the man and Camille. View more details
