Rose o' the River

In order to pay off some major gambling debts, a drifter agrees to perform a dangerous job for his debtors. Things start to go wrong when he finds out that his girlfriend, thinking he has deserted her, marries another man. Despondent and depressed, he joins the French Foreign Legion to "get away from it all", but soon discovers that it's not as easy as he thought.

JONES, a genial, young father-to-be arrives for the first time to New York City on business. His work schedule allows for enjoyable strolls through the city, taking in the enormity he's most unaccustomed to back home in South Carolina. He might even go see a lecture given by his favorite author, Haruki Murakami. In New York there is everything; great bars, colorful characters and beautiful Asian call girls. Jones has a problem.

Carey Wethersbee and her aunt Lucretia live in an old Southern mansion, which through their quaint manners and outmoded costumes, they imbue with an atmosphere of the antebellum South. After her aunt's death, Carey decides to "go visiting" in the North, journeys to a small town and announces her intention to install herself in the home of wealthy mill owner Hiram Ward. The young bachelor is shocked at first, but his friends convince him to allow her to stay. Carey visits Hiram's mill, where she is shocked and saddened by the miserable conditions under which the employees labor. Her distribution of money among the workers fails to avert a strike, but when the mill is blown up, she staunchly defends the accused man. Through her influence, Hiram's attitude towards his employees softens, and he agrees to improve conditions. He grows to love the unspoiled girl, and she eventually returns his affections.

After his brother commits suicide, a man informs his mother and friends about the death.

A woman has to live with the death of her sister who was involved in an accident. She is dismal and regretful. Her mother suffered and her father reached for the bottle following the accident. The sister has a life including a job, but is devising a way of travelling back to the year of the accident in order to prevent it.
