KSO is centered around the burgeoning Urban Alternative (URB ALT) music industry that features redhot bands who are creating avant garde music. Kat and Shaun are both bandleaders struggling to make a name for themselves in the contemporary music industry. The course of their experiences ultimately involves with Sammy Boi, an aggressive rapper caught in a bad contract while on of his songs is a major radio hit; Joan Vicks, a devious A&R executive for Viewpointe Records, Randy Tigge, a drug addicted, cross-dressing rock star; and Michael Dileo, the chairman of Viewpointe Record, who some simply call Satan.

Denny O'Hara marries Eileen O'Connor. He learns his elderly mother has been evicted. He finds her dead and sets out to kill the landlord and finds him already dead. A local priest urges him to flee to America fearing he will be accused of landlord's death. His success in America is not enough to send for Eileen. He decides to rob a shipment of money but other robbers beat him to it. He locates the money and steals it from the robbers. Eventually a detective locates Denny who is now a deputy. The sheriff claims Denny caught the robbers and turns over the money thus clearing his name.

Pigheaded Bavarian rural fishmonger and trout breeder Fred Sattler has been alienating everyone for 20 years, and now even his wife (Hen)Rike has had enough, while the business suffered gravely too: she moves in uninvited with daughter Kathrin, a would be fashion designer, in Münich, where handsome but still unemployed lawyer fiance Hans Klein finds her presence ruins every attempt to be romantic, so after the ring proposal the whole marriage concept falls through. Fred meanwhile is told by fish-hating creditor Charlotte Görres time is up for his crushing debt, yet manages with her to turn the business around into 'experience', with cooking classes and involvement in the annual town festival. Rike dates her still single first love Bruno Maijer, only to realize she isn't over Fred and returns home, at first sight jealous of Charlotte, yet staying in her B&B and entering the 'fish stabbing' contest against Fred, which resets their rapport.
