Resting Potential

"Somewhere in Palilula" tells the story of Serafim, a fresh graduate of a medical school, in 60's Romania. He is brought by destiny to the strange town of Palilula. Nowhere, that is. Palilula is a ghost town, lost in the middle of the Wallachia. A quarantine area, a sanatorium, an improbable hospital, a gynecological clinic in a settlement where no child is born. A small community of fools, lazies, sluts, vagabonds with angel's hearts is living under the sun in a sweet innocent unconsciousness. A community of Romanians who forgot their language, but not the nostalgia of their traditional music. Romanians with Danubian taste and disorientation. The young doctor Serafim will not get to practice his profession in this childless town. He will be drowning in the sweet and poisoned honey of the place, like a fly caught by a frog.

A bird watcher finds a tiny bird-like creature with no parent to claim her. His wife insists on raising "Beedie" as their child and we follow her growth into maturity as she follows her instinct to flock with other birds.

A merchant's house in the Stockholm archipelago. Katha, an old woman comes here every year. So does her father, who once built the house. She wants the family, her children and their children to join her at Paradistorg. This leads to conflicts.

An embittered woman, leader of a criminal gang, has a change of heart.

Béatrice, a widow, lives with her family. As she encounters Mokhtar, an Iranian teacher who fled in Europe illegally, her life and beliefs wreak havoc. For love, she has to face the prejudices of her relatives and the laws of her country.

Having been fired from her old job as a real estate agent, 40 years old Constance thinks her former boss will hire her in a vacancy, but he chooses a younger and prettier woman. Constance can't take that and starts her stalking.
