Mrs. Hugh Manners tires of her husband, a stodgy lawyer, and arranges to divorce him. She gives a party to celebrate her freedom and becomes involved with Preston Ducayne, a gambler, and Olga Kazanoff, an adventuress. Ducayne is killed and suspicion points to Mrs. Manners until her husband establishes her innocence.
A strange returns to Egypt after a long absence to spend a quick vacation with his family, but he intervenes to save a woman from theft, so he is involved in exciting events with the lady and her husband, and changes the course of his life.
After an acclaimed graduation performance, five friends from the art academy form a group. They swear each other eternal fidelity and promise never to disband. This turns out to be difficult to achieve for the young artists.
