When four girls from different social cliques meet each other during Senior Skip Day, they discover they are more like each other than they thought.

Contemporary/avantgarde allegory loosely based on Aesop's fable about a town mouse that visits a relative in the country. The country mouse dreams of life in town and follows the town mouse back home - only to realize that the simple and safe country life is to be preferred.

A theatrical troupe from the west end of London loses its leading lady (Rose Trelawny) when she goes off to marry a rich young man from the other side of town (Arthur Gower). The rest of the play deals with the budding romance and trials and tribulations of their love, as well as the changing face of late-19th-century theatre.

When the car of Georges, a Parisian architect, breaks down on the motorway, he is helped by Serge, a mechanic and garage owner, who lives in a remote Jura hamlet. The two men, although they do not seem to have anything in common, develop an unexpected friendship and live a few days together before Georges finally resumes his ordinary life.
