In the city of Memphis, in a hall of the pharaoh's palace, Abbot Ramfis speaks to the young Radames. The goddess Isis portrayed Radames as commander-in-chief of the Egyptian Army in the battle against the Ethiopians. When Ramfis leaves, Radames goes into thought. He will go to war, successfully return to his homeland, and he will have Aida, his lover of Ethiopia, who is held captive in the palace. The daughter of Pharaoh Amneris and his slave Aida come.
