Axel Oguz lives with his father in Germany. He comes to Turkey from Germany by his motorbike to meet his grandfather and relatives in spite of his father's objection. His father had left Turkey years ago because of a conflict with his father. Here he meets Fidan and falls in love with her.

The young Bulgarian Muslim woman Zyulker wants to study and become a teacher. Her father decides to arrange a marriage to her. After the wedding, she runs away and goes to the town. There she starts work in a hostel. Her husband takes her back. He beats and humiliates her. She gives birth to her child prematurely, takes the baby and goes to the school for Muslim in the town. She has to surmount many difficulties. The young woman meets her first teacher Stefanov. The two fall in love. With his help, Zyulker finishes her study successfully and makes up her mind to return to her native village as a teacher. Stefanov follows her and proposes to her. The two embrace.

Bored with his simple life in Norway, Espen comes to California as a foreign exchange student seeking a deeper purpose in life. At his new high school, he joins the tennis team and quickly wins new friends, but finds himself making compromising choices in order to fit in. After his girlfriend cheats on him at a New Year's party, Espen considers an early return to Norway. He seeks guidance from his host parents and his English teacher, who convince him to stay and finish the school year. When his girlfriend apologizes and wants him back, he finds the strength to forgive her and rebuild his friendships in the remaining weeks of the exchange program. When he gets humiliated in front of his classmates at prom, Espen must dig deeper than ever before to find the truth of who he is, before his sense of humanity is shattered.
