This movie depicts the two years that young Stendhal spent in Italy. Stendhal, that time still known simply as Henri Beyle, is living the life of a wanderer, looking for a direction in his life, meeting famous Rossini and falling in love with young widow Giuseppina. A story of love, betrayal and an analysis of women and men's minds and souls.

This movie concerns a pacifist husband who is so involved in his causes he totally neglects his wife and two sons. The wife, ready to leave her husband, finds the schoolmaster knocking on their door informing them their boys are going to be expelled for fighting, which he finds ironic, in as much as the father is a known pacifist. When they get to the school, their sons have disappeared.

Samuel is an old hippie musician who settled in Formentera in the 1970s, when King Crimson and other British rock bands frequented the island. There he lives austerely, in a ramshackle house without electric light or unnecessary luxuries, and plays the banjo in a friends' club. Until one day, after many years, he receives the unexpected visit of his daughter Anna and his grandson Marc. Anna, unemployed for some time, says she has had to accept a job in France and is forced to leave her little son on the island with grandfather Samuel.

A troubled teenager becomes obsessed with a mysterious hole in the ground, leading to a journey of self-discovery and the confrontation of inner demons.
