Summary Welcome to Papaya Island. A remote place full of weird traditions where each kid gets a baby bull to be their best friend and caretaker. Every child on the island pairs up with his or her bull from the moment they are born until their teenage years - Except for Cacupé, a foreign boy who mysteriously arrived on the island, and, after being very insistent, got his own bull who he named: Sócrates, a neurotic, know-it-all bull who nobody wanted. The automated bureaucratic system of the Papaya Office warns that Cacupé will turn 13, the age at which all the children of the island have to leave their bulls. In other words, Sócrates and Cacupé will have to split up. And if the bull is excited about this new phase of his life, the boy is willing to do anything to stay with his best friend.

Hermano gets very upset when he finally realizes what everyone on the island already knows - that his son is not very bright. He refuses to accept this and wants to prove that his son is "smart as his papá." He sells everything he owns to buy sophisticated equipment to hunt down the Bernúncia, a legendary creature that has not been found for generations and that only the most intelligent people are able to find.

No one remembers Sócrates' birthday and he gets depressed. He catches a tick, everyone feels sorry for him and starts pampering him, which makes the bull decide not to get rid of the little bug. The problem is that the tick grows so much that it starts talking and befriending the people of Papaya, threatening to steal all the attention that Sócrates is receiving .

Every year the island is divided into two teams, the Mind team and the Body team, to compete in a Chess Wrestling match, a combination of chess and arm wrestling, to find out which is the more important: Mind or Body. Cacupé is chosen to be one of the contestants. But, when he remains silent and refuses to play, he starts a conflict on the Papaya island between those who want the match to happen and those who don't. The conflict gains epic proportions.

Dani starts renting Hermano, the only adult who is always on the island, to the children of Papaya, but he's so dumb that he doesn't even realize he's being rented. After spending a lot of time under the hottest sun in the history of Papaya, Sócrates gets sunstroke and goes crazy - he starts seeing things and becomes a whole other person, a fun and fearless Sócrates. Cacupé likes this version of Sócrates better and does everything he can so that he doesn't go back to being the serious and neurotic bull he once was.

Problemas de Leitura

To get rid of Cacupé and finish reading his book, Sócrates rents an apartment on the outskirts of Papaya. There, he discovers that the island's manure deposit, which is right under his window, is causing a catastrophic problem: Papaya is sinking. Sócrates goes to the Papaya Office and the residents' committee approves drastic measures to contain the crisis.

Guri, Joaquina and Floriano have a secret group where they complain about their parents being overprotective. Cacupé finds out about their secret meetings and when he hears that his friends are overprotected, he thinks that means they have superpowers. Cacupé is shipwrecked on a deserted island, where he finds robots that look exactly like the people of Papaya, but have different personalities. They are all programmed to be friends only with Floriano, their creator. The young inventor decides to get rid of Cacupé before the boy discovers that he is behind the robots.

Cacupé is very lazy, his room is always a mess. In order to teach Cacupé that he can't expect Sócrates to do everything for him, the bull tells him a fairy tale about a world where bulls are mere servants and Sócrates is Cinderella. And Guri, embarrassed of his smooth, hairless chest, starts imitating a hairy boy to look just like him.

Cacupé decides to go to the drain of the world to recover his friend's memories while Hermano does everything he can to get Sócrates out of the hospital.

A new law is passed in Papaya: everyone must be happy all of the time. Hermano is put in charge of the activities that will allow the people to achieve complete happiness, but ends up getting discouraged. Meanwhile, Dani and Floriano team up to fight the new law.

Tamakid

Only a few days left before the Papaya celebrations. And to profit from it, Pollybull launches the Tamakid, an intelligent little robot that can be whatever its owner wants. Cacupé leaves his Tamakid with Sócrates, and it becomes as sarcastic and sour as the bull. Dani's Tamakid makes the teenager grow fond of a toy for children. And Guri's Tamakid holds special place in the boy's heart.
