Waclaw Orzeszko is unlucky soldier. Nobody from the platoon likes him. One day he decided to go away from platoon. At the castle he meet Russian soldier Marusia. At this time German forces came at the castle. They must hide. But there is also second problem. Waclaw's platoon had to find deserter. Polish Soldier close to the castle.

Dick Wright, rejected by both the Army and the Navy because he is a sleepwalker, joins an ambulance unit during the war, and his chauffeur and valet go along to protect him. By accident they get aboard a regular troop train and arrive in France as members of the U. S. Army. After a series of comic adventures with a hard-boiled sergeant, Ted and Sam succeed in capturing a detachment of Germans and are decorated for their bravery. Along the way, the boys are involved in romantic interludes with Betty and Joan, respectively American and French.

A sanitary battalion of the Italian army is sent to Sorman Oasis in Libya during the African campaign in 1940. Soon, an Italian missionary living nearby succeeds in transforming the occupation by the Italian army into a kind of humanitarian mission. In fact, the entire battalion is involved in helping the local population. The war goes on with no regard to human feelings. The "glorious" Fascist campaign is going to become a fast retreat.

Christopher Reynolds, an American flying with the R.A.F, is shot down over German-occupied Holland and is given shelter by a Dutch family. Posing as the insane husband of the daughter of the house, Anita Wolverman, Reynolds convinces the German officer quartered there, Major Zellfritz, with the necessity for her divorce decree to be granted. After the court hearing, Anita, goes to manage a home for retired ladies and, persuaded by Reynolds, tries to gain military information from the German officer. After her former husband escapes from the mental asylum, his exploits are blamed on Reynolds. With the help of the old ladies and Anita, who "remarries" him, Reynolds escapes to England in a stolen German airplane.
