Summary Prospector "Bedrock" Brown comes to a settlement in the Taku River area of Alaska, and gets new supplies and a grubstake from Taku Mary,airplane pilot and owner of the local trading post. His hunt for gold, accompanied by his pet bear cubs, Tom and Jerry, continues and the prospector and his pets escape death during an avalanche; later, they stumble upon an abandoned mine which caves in, trapping Brown inside. The cubs drag food to him and, at last, he manages to dig himself out. Meanwhile, the settlers have organized a search for a lost child, Joy, who has wandered into the woods.
