Power is a former career soldier in the Irish army. He served in a variety of units at home and abroad, as well as Defence Headquarters. He is now a security and defence analyst working in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He is a regular analyst on security affairs for Irish and other media and has advised and led on security projects for the UN, EU, NATO and other national states.
