Arthur started in the business as a Broadway columnist for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, later going to work for the Toronto Star. He worked on Cecil B. DeMille¡¦s executive staff as well as serving on the executive board of the Writers Guild of America. He also worked on the Oscar winning documentary, Seeds of Destiny, in 1946.
