Yamada Isao is a Japanese film director, visual artist, and manga artist born in Nagayama, Sorachi, Hokkaido, Japan. He graduated from Hokkaido Comprehensive Art College in 1974 and joined the theater group "Tenjosanjinshiki" at the Theater Laboratory.
In 1977, Yamada co-founded the "Galaxy Gaho Sha Film Club" in Sapporo with manga artist Minatoya Yumekichi.
