Todayama Masashi is a Japanese screenwriter born in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Azabu Junior and Senior High School (麻布中学校・高等学校) and the Faculty of Letters at Waseda University (早稲田大学). While at Waseda, he became involved with the theater troupe Daisan Butai (第三舞台) and later worked as an assistant director under Kokami Shoji (鴻上尚史).
He made his debut as a television drama screenwriter in 1989 with the late-night program "Kimyo na Dekigoto" (奇妙な出来事).
