Chookiat Sakveerakul, nicknamed Ma-Deaw or Matthew, is a film director and screenwriter born in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He graduated from school Montfort College in Chiang Mai before going on to Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Communication Arts Department of Film.
Ma-Deaw's first feature film was the independently produced ensemble drama, ''The Passenger of Li'. His film '13 Beloved' (13 เกมสยอง), a gritty drama about a deadly underground reality television game, won multiple awards in Thailand and at film festivals.
