He was born in Kyoto. After graduating from Nihon University College of Art Cinema department, Taniguchi worked as an assistant director for numerous works. He has been directing tv drama titles and then debuted as a movie director in 2010 with the movie “Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”.
