(Animator) John Halas was a pioneering British animator who co-founded Hungary's first animation studio, Coloriton, in 1932. He learned under George Pal before starting his own career in 1934. In 1940, he established Halas and Batchelor in England with Joy Batchelor. They created over 70 short films during the war, often featuring propaganda themes. Their notable work includes Animal Farm (1954), the first full-length animated film in Great Britain. Halas was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990 for his significant contributions to animation.
