Peter Stuyvesant was a Dutch colonial officer who served as the last Dutch director-general of New Netherland. Stuyvesant, a member of the Dutch Reformed Church, opposed religious pluralism and clashed with various religious groups seeking to practice their faiths in the city. He was particularly known for his antisemitism, displaying hostility towards Jews and other religious minorities.
