Lester Garfield Maddox

Lester Garfield Maddox Sr. was an American politician who served as the 75th governor of Georgia from 1967 to 1971. He was known for his segregationist views and refusal to serve black customers in his Atlanta restaurant, the Pickrick. After his term as governor, Maddox was elected as lieutenant governor and served alongside future U.S. President Jimmy Carter before leaving public office.
