Peggy Guggenheim was an American art collector and socialite. She was born into the famous Guggenheim family of New York. However, she worked her way up to the top of the business of art curation and collection. She is best remembered as a collector of Abstract, Surrealist, and Cubist artworks and pieces, primarily between the 1930s and the 1940s. She established her own art galleries in Paris, London, and New York, before she started exhibiting her own collection of artworks. The ‘Peggy Guggenheim Collection’ is a modern art museum located on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Before her retirement, she donated her entire collection to the ‘Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation,’ which was founded by her uncle. She then settled in Venice and remained there until her death in 1979.
