He played for teams such as the Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, and Chicago White Sox. Foster was a five-time All-Star known for his powerful right-handed hitting, leading the National League in home runs in 1977 and 1978, and in RBIs in 1976, 1977, and 1978. He was awarded the NL MVP in 1977 and a Silver Slugger Award in 1981. Foster was honored with induction into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2003.
