Elizaphan Ntakirutimana

Elizaphan Ntakirutimana was a Rwandan pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He became the first clergyman to be convicted for his specific leadership role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Ntakirutimana and his son, Dr. Gérard, were found guilty of aiding and abetting genocide and crimes against humanity. Ntakirutimana, a Hutu, was convicted of transporting armed attackers to kill hundreds of Tutsi refugees at the Mugonero complex. Despite some convictions being overturned on appeal, he served 10 years in prison before his release and subsequent passing.
