Description:
(British Missionary) Alfred Saker, a dedicated British Baptist missionary, led a Baptist Mission from Fernando Po to Southern Cameroons in 1858. He purchased land from Bimbia chiefs and founded the settlement of Victoria, later renamed Limbe. Referred to as a "Missionary to Africa," Saker played a significant role in the early British Baptist missionary efforts in the region. From 1844 to 1876, he focused on establishing churches and translating the Bible into the Duala language, completing the project between 1862 and 1872.
