(Evangelist) William R. Bright, an American evangelist, founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 at the University of California, Los Angeles. He wrote The Four Spiritual Laws in 1952 and created the film Jesus in 1979. In 1996, he received the $1.1 million Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, which he used to support fasting and prayer initiatives. Bright retired as the organization's leader in 2001, handing over the reins to Steve Douglass, and he passed away in 2003.
