Fethullah Gülen is a Turkish Muslim scholar and leader of the Gülen movement with millions of followers. He is known for his influence as a neo-Ottomanist, Anatolian panethnicist, Islamic poet, writer, social critic, and activist-dissident. Gülen served as a state imam for over two decades before living in self-exile in the United States. He promotes a tolerant Islam emphasizing altruism, hard work, and education. Despite being wanted as a terrorist leader in multiple countries, Gülen denies accusations of involvement in terrorist activities and the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey.
