Nidal Malik Hasan is a former United States Army major and physician. He served as an Army Medical Corps psychiatrist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Concerns were raised about his job performance and behavior during his internship and residency. Hasan admitted to killing 13 people and injuring over 30 others in the Fort Hood mass shooting in 2009. Despite controversially not being charged with terrorism, he was convicted of multiple counts of premeditated murder and attempted murder, and is currently incarcerated awaiting execution.
