Timothy James Walz is an American politician who has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019. Prior to his governorship, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2019, where he also served as the ranking member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. Before entering politics, Walz was a high school social studies teacher and football coach. He has been a strong advocate for various legislative initiatives, including tax modifications, free school meals, universal gun background checks, and free college tuition for low-income families. In 2024, he was nominated as the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate.
