Sean Sherman

Sean Sherman is an Oglala Lakota Sioux chef and cookbook author known for his work in promoting indigenous cuisine. He founded The Sioux Chef, an indigenous food education business, and co-founded the nonprofit NĀTIFS. Sherman has received accolades such as the James Beard Foundation Leadership Award and won the James Beard Award for Best American Cookbook for his 2017 publication, "The Sioux Chef's Indigenous Kitchen." In 2022, the restaurant he co-owned, Owamni, also won a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.
