Pavel Kolobkov, a retired épée fencer from Russia and the former Soviet Union, enjoyed a successful Olympic career from 1988 to 2004, winning multiple medals. He transitioned to sports administration and represented Russia at the World Anti-Doping Agency until being barred in 2015. Following this, he served as the Russian Minister of Sport until his dismissal by President Putin in 2020. Kolobkov has also held various other prominent positions in Russian sports administration.
