Description:
(German Equestrian) Konrad Freiherr von Wangenheim, a German army Cavalry officer and skilled horse rider, achieved a gold medal for the German equestrian team at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin despite a broken collarbone. He went on to serve as a Captain with Cavalry Regiment No. 8 during World War II. Unfortunately, he was captured by the Red Army in 1944 and endured several years as a prisoner of war. Tragically, he was discovered hanged in Stalingrad, with his passing potentially being a suicide.
