(Former Australian Long-Distance Runner) Derek James Clayton was a renowned Australian long-distance runner known for setting a marathon world best time in the Fukuoka Marathon in 1967, completing the race in under two hours and ten minutes. He further improved this record in the Antwerp Marathon in 1969. Clayton represented Australia at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics, achieving notable finishes. He dominated the Australian Athletics Championships, winning the marathon multiple times.
