Ryan Hall, a retired American long-distance runner, is renowned for setting the U.S. half marathon record with a time of 59:43. He was the first American athlete to run the half marathon in under an hour. Hall is also distinguished for being the sole American to complete a marathon in under 2:05, accomplished at the 2011 Boston Marathon. Additionally, he emerged victorious in the marathon at the 2008 United States Olympic trials and secured tenth place in the Olympic marathon in Beijing.
