Noriko Nakayama, a Japanese former badminton player, is celebrated as Japan's first international badminton star. She garnered success in both singles and women's doubles, clinching numerous national and major international titles from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s. Nakayama excelled at prestigious tournaments such as the Danish Open, All-England Championships, and World Invitational Championships. She played a key role in Japan's victories in the Uber Cup competitions, leading the team to three world titles. After retiring from professional play in 1975, Nakayama continued her involvement in the sport as a coach.
