Desmond Haynes

Desmond Haynes is a former Barbadian cricketer and cricket coach who played for the West Indies cricket team from 1978 to 1994. He was part of the squads that won the 1979 Cricket World Cup and finished as runners-up in 1983. Known for his measured batting style, he scored 7,487 runs in 116 Test matches at an average of 42.29. Haynes achieved a highest Test innings of 184 against England in 1980 and is one of the few players to have been dismissed handled the ball. He was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2021 for his outstanding contributions to the sport.
