Raymond Poulidor

Description: (French Professional Racing Cyclist)
Raymond Poulidor, also known as "Pou-Pou," was a renowned French professional cyclist who rode for Mercier throughout his career. He competed during the same era as cycling greats Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx. While Poulidor consistently performed well, he never clinched a Tour de France victory, earning the nickname "The Eternal Second" for finishing as runner-up three times and in third place five times. Despite this, he secured a win in the 1964 Vuelta a España and achieved top 10 placements in fifteen out of eighteen Grand Tours he participated in, demonstrating his enduring skill and determination in the world of competitive cycling.
