Description:
(Saint) Kateri Tekakwitha, known as the Lily of the Mohawks, was a Mohawk Catholic saint and virgin. Afflicted by smallpox as a child, she bore its scars. At nineteen, she embraced Catholicism and vowed perpetual virginity. She resided in the Jesuit mission village of Kahnawake, where her piety and dedication earned her beatification in 1980 and canonization in 2012.
