Louis Farrakhan is an American minister and political activist. He is one of the most famous and renowned leaders of the ‘Nation of Islam’ (NOI), an African-American religious movement. Once a music aficionado, his life underwent a major change when he was introduced to Elijah Muhammad, the then-leader of ‘Nation of Islam.’ The meeting served as a major turning point in Farrakhan’slife as he gave up on music to dedicate himself to the ‘Nation of Islam.’ In his newly found life mission, he worked whole-heartedly and contributed much to the organization. He thenworked his way up to become the minister of major mosques. He also became the national spokesperson for the group. He caught the attention of many when he withdrew his support from the Warith Deen Muhammad-led NOI to form his own NOI. Upon acquiring leadership, he remained outspoken on various social and political issues. His racial and religious commentscaused a stir and earned him the wrath of other racial and ethnic groups.
