Anil Biswas was a pioneering Indian film music director and playback singer known for introducing orchestral music and choral effects into Indian cinema. He created the first Indian orchestra of twelve pieces and composed music for over 90 films. Biswas blended western symphonic music with Indian classical and folk elements, using techniques like counter melody and Ragmala in his scores. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986 for his contributions to Indian film music.
