Basia is a Polish singer-songwriter and recording artist known for her Latin-inspired jazz-pop music. She started her professional singing career in Poland in the late 1960s and 1970s before relocating to the UK in 1981. Basia rose to fame as part of the British trio Matt Bianco and later found success as a solo artist. Signed with Epic Records, she enjoyed international acclaim from 1987 to 1995 with hits such as "Time and Tide" and "Cruising for Bruising". Following a break, Basia made a comeback to the music scene in the late 2000s.
