(Organic Chemist) Bernard Lucas Feringa is a respected Dutch synthetic organic chemist recognized for his proficiency in molecular nanotechnology and homogeneous catalysis. He currently serves as the Jacobus van 't Hoff Distinguished Professor of Molecular Sciences at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Feringa is also an Academy Professor of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, jointly with Sir J. Fraser Stoddart and Jean-Pierre Sauvage, for their innovative contributions to the field of designing and developing molecular machines.
